Collective Presence Steel 9’ ht 322 N. Kenilworth Oak Park, IL 2010
Inspired by trees in the forest these heavy columns float, sway, move and ring gently in the breeze.
Being in the forest observing, imputing, I become a part of all that is around me. The major structures, the trees, at times seemingly invisible now fill the outdoor room. Fixed objects solid and stoic, they vary in shape and size like individuals – motionless. A soft roar arises as the winds pick up and swirl about. The giant stout and solid objects begin to move. They gently sway independently all together. A spirit quality of individuals mingling as a group fills the air. Observe the spatial tension in their graceful movement. They become figures in a Collective Presence.
